AIDS Research Centres

In pursuance of the recommendations made in the National Seminar on Medicinal Plants & Traditional Medical Knowledge and Workshop on Management of Incurable Diseases like AIDS held on February 12-13 of 1999 at Saputara (Dangs), Govt. has appointed a Research Committee to explore the possibilities of identifying suitable remedies for intractable diseases like AIDS by Ayurveda and other Traditional Medical Knowledge. The Research Committee consists of 14 official and non official members. It has advisory and facilitative role in the field of collaborative research.

For this research work, 2 AIDS centres have already been established by the Govt. One is functioning in the name of " AIDS Rog Sushrusha evam Sanshodhan Kendra '' at Shree Swami Atmanand Saraswati Ayurved Hospital attached with Ayurved college , Surat; and the other is functioning at I.P.G.T.& R, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar. AIDS patients are treated there by Rasayan Chikitsa – a special treatment through Ayurved.
